Today we went to a Township called Mbekweni.  We went to a pre-school which was made out of converted cargo containers.  The kids were so energetic and they made the atmosphere very happy.
This classroom is made up of 2 cargo containers put together with the middle wall removed.

This is Dani with Sarah, Alex and Gabriel.  Dani works with his church group to arrange the cargo container pre-schools for the townships near his home.  The townships are very poor with dirt roads and shanty houses everywhere.

We then went to a youth center in Silver Town, just next door to Mbekweni.  After school, kids would do homework or chores for a half-hour then they would come to the youth center.
This is the man that set up and runs the youth center.  His goal was to decrease the risk of kids getting swept up by violent gangs in the area.  He has more kids interested in coming than he can deal with!  His program has been very well received and is quite successful.

Silver Town was a very dangerous area several years ago, with a bad reputation for gang violence.  Since the youth center opened and families have banded together, things have changed for the better.

We then drove to three different wineries.  The second winery was called Goats Do Roam.  There were three goats outside.  The goats had a tower and one walked down the ramp while we were there.
We all thought the goat was a statue at the top, until he started walking down the ramp!

Very nice wine and amazing cheese, too!

Lunch was beautifully presented and the food was fantastic!  Note we also had a cheese platter... Debbie and Marci were in heaven.  Wine and cheese, who needs more?

The third winery was called Kanonkop (Cannon Head).  In 1986 my dad ordered a case of wine from them and he never got it.  He asked them and he brought all his files and it looks like he will finally get his wine.
